Maiko Kikuchi
23 Jun. – 21 Jul. 2024
KinoSaito is proud to partner with La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club once again for Maiko Kikuchi’s Summer 2024 Residency, performance, and workshop series.
Maiko will be the instructor for two free workshops “Meet the Greens Escaped from a Greenhouse” on June 30 and July 6. These paper-mache and painting workshops center around a collaboration between Maiko and participants to create artworks and props for the performances of “Note from a Sheep I Met at the Dawn” on July 13 and 20.
Maiko Kikuchi’s performance unfolds in six captivating vignettes, where she, adorned in a business suit and glasses, brings to life surrealistic worlds inspired by nonsensical diary-like narrations. Using props and ordinary materials, she transforms the neutral white space into an immersive installation of visible daydreams, inviting viewers to ponder the delicate boundary between reality and dreams.
