Community Art Benefit

It's that time of year again!

Submissions are now open for the 2024 KinoSaito Annual! Artists in all stages of their careers from the Hudson Valley and beyond are welcome to submit their works to be included for this special exhibition opportunity. With this 3-day exhibition, we aim to highlight the wealth of talent and skill in artistic ability that can be found in our local community.

This open call is both an opportunity for artists to show and sell their work, as well as fundraising for KinoSaito as we head into our fourth year of operations. In 2023, over 100 artists were selected to participate in our first community open call, and we were able to raise over $17,000 in sales to support both KinoSaito and our community of local artists. Artists working in any medium are encouraged to apply.

The opening reception to be held on December 14th is our largest community event of the year. Please come be a part of it!

Eligibility

All accepted artists will be required to transport their own work both to KinoSaito prior to showing, as well as pick up their work after, in the case that it does not sell during the exhibition period. Therefore, only artists within commuting distance to KinoSaito (located at 115 7th Street, Verplanck, NY 10596) are eligible to submit. Artists in any stage of their careers are encouraged to apply.

Dates

  • Exhibition Dates: December 13-15, 2024

  • Submission Deadline: November 15, 2024

  • Artists notified of acceptance: November 24, 2024

Drop off dates:

  • December 9, 2024 | 10am-5pm

  • December 10, 2024 | 10am-5pm

Opening Reception & Year-End Winter Celebration: December 14, 2024 | 4-7pm

Pick up dates:

  • December 16, 2024 | 1-5pm

  • December 17, 2024 | 1-5pm

  • December 18, 2024 | 1-5pm

Submission Guidelines

  • Please keep in mind that applications that do not follow the submission guidelines will not be considered.

  • All media may be accepted

  • Artwork must not be larger than 36 inches in any direction

  • All artworks must be ready to hang and/or ready to be displayed

  • All artworks must be for sale, with the understanding that 50% of the sale price will be taken as donation to KinoSaito as part of the Winter Open Call Fundraiser

  • There is no application fee to apply, though a suggested donation of $10 per submission is greatly appreciated. Artists must also be aware that submission of artworks will be considered as a 50% profit donation to KinoSaito, should their piece sell while included in this exhibition.

Application Materials

Each artist may submit up to 2 works to be considered for this group exhibition. For submission to be considered, artists must include:

  • Artist’s email address

  • Phone number and home address

  • Link to website and/or social media if applicable 

  • Image list submitted as .pdf that includes image of the artwork with Artist Name, Title, Year, Materials, Size, and Artwork Price 

    • The file should be labeled with “Artist’s last name” and “ImageList” (ex: LastName_ImageList.pdf)

  • Short Bio and/or Artist Statement not exceeding 250 words submitted as .pdf

    • The file should be labeled with “Artist’s last name” and “ArtistBio” (ex: LastName_ArtistBio.pdf)
